Welcome to the DAV Website
The DAV is a non-profit association which exists to promote debate. It
is the peak debating body in Victoria and runs large competitions for
adults and for schools across Victoria. It provides training and
resources for debaters, teachers and adjudicators.
President's Cup, the DAV's premier debating tournament, is happening again this year! The tournament will run on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of August from 9-5 each day at Wesley College's St Kilda road campus. There is a separate draw for novice and experienced teams, with food provided throughout the day and a Championship dinner on the Saturday evening. The format is 3-on-3 with POIs and our Chief Adjudicator is the talented Ravi Dutta, whose achievements include being a Worlds Grand Finalist and an Australs Semi-finalist.
The cost for debaters is $40 and $25 for adjudicators. ($10 discount applies for first years, teachers and debaters from interstate) We will send bank details for pre-payment when you register. If you pay on the day, there will be an additional $5 fee. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know.
This is a great opportunity to get back into post-school debating if you're a bit rusty, or start the semester two transition to BP!
