Welcome to the DAV Website
The DAV is a non-profit association which exists to promote debate. It is the peak debating body in Victoria and runs large competitions for adults and for schools across Victoria. It provides training and resources for debaters, teachers and adjudicators.

Each year the DAV seeks new adjudicators for the Schools Competition. If you are completing Year 12 this year, then you can always continue your involvement with the DAV Schools Competition. Even if you haven't debated for many years it is still an excellent opportunity to become more involved in debating again.

Adjudication in the Schools Competition is a challenging and rewarding way of making a contribution, and best of all, you will be paid $50 for each regional night that you attend (or up to $70 per round in outer regions).

In order to become an adjudicator, you need to attend a training seminar and complete an online test including a video debate and theory questions.

The upcoming dates for adjudicator training are:

  • Monday, 17th April 2017 at 2:00pm
  • Tuesday, 25th April 2017 at 10:00am
  • Thursday, 27th April 2017 at 5:45pm

Unless otherwise indicated, sessions will be held at the DAV office (454 Collins Street, Melbourne). Sessions will run from either 10am-1pm, or 2pm-5pm.

**The session on Sunday 26th February will be held at St Kevin's College, Toorak.**
